S.U.M. has nothing to do with math, the initials stand for Set Up Marked. It is the stacked, marked deck that needs no calculation or memorization whatsoever because the deck does all the work. Our list of specially printed Phoenix cards continues with a full range of Double Faced Decks. Nobody ever went this far to create four different types of Double Face Decks. They all serve a certain purpose, just let your mind wander to figure out which one suits your task best!

Option A:
This is our Double Faced Deck which is set up like an Invisible Deck: odd values backed with even values with a total of 13; Hearts backed with Spades, Diamonds backed with Clubs. ie. QH/AS, 4H/9S, 7C/6D, etc.

Option B:
The Mirror Deck has a back that matches its face.... ummmm, a face that matches its back....ummm Two Faces that are matching! ie. AS/AS, 4H/4H, 7C/7C, etc.

Option C:

If you have ever owned an Invisible Deck, you know the problems of the treatment: it is eather too strong or too light, and also wears off. When the cards are too heavily treated, the cards stay perfectly aligned but you struggle separating the named card. Tell the spectator to turn his card face down and replace it in the pack. Now, you bring out a "visible pack." Have the spectator name his card -- the one he selected from the "Invisible Deck". Run through the visible cards until you find one face down card. And, sure enough, it is the card selected by the spectator!

These Casino Quality Phoenix Decks - produced at the US Playing Card Company - are cut one millimeter shorter than a standard Poker Size Deck. And to make this even more devious, we altered the art work to eliminate the tell-tale narrow border.

These decks have a multitude of uses; in fact a chapter in The Encyclopedia of Card Tricks has been designated to The Short Card. Insert a regular Poker Size card into a short deck and you immediately have a deck with a long key card or place a short card in a regular deck and you have a short key card. You show a wallet containing four Kings.

Every man is nothing without the woman he loves, so you take out the four Queens from a deck of cards and give them to a spectator to shuffle. Let him randomly select one of the Queens so that nobody knows which card he has chosen.

You take out the cards from the wallet, face down, and place them next to the selected card. Let the spectator turn over the Queen to show his selection. When you spread the pack of Kings, the King matching the selected Queen turned face-up between the other face-down cards. Say that there can only be one perfect King for a Queen, as you turn over the King to show that he has the same back colour like the Queen. Finallly, turn over the other three cards to show that all other cards are blank!

A new and fresh twist for a classic effect.

NEW: You will receive a set with Queens and Kings, showing red backs. Use either the Kings or the Queens, what ever fits your performance idea. The blank cards will have blue backs for an additional climax.

The Force Deck with a free choice - Literally!

This deck allows a very interesting premise (and several presentations are included):

The spectator names any card in a deck of 52. This is a totally free, mentally selected card.

The spectator is then instructed to insert a business card into a ribbon spread deck - at ANY position he likes. The card next to the business card is revealed to be exactly the spectator's named card. Not only that, but the selected card is the ONLY different playing card in a deck of duplicates. The presentation is absolutely baffling!

One more time: The spectator's card is a freely named choice, absolutely no forces or equivoques are used.

Tommy Wonder was one of the top performers and thinkers in magic, many consider him one of the most important magicians of our time.

The magician takes out a deck of cards with numbers written on the backs from 1 to 52, well mixed. He takes a piece of paper and writes a prediction on it. Not really satisfied, he removes an additional piece of paper and writes a second prediction on it, stating, that at least one of them should be correct in the end. Both predictions are then placed face down in full view. Four spectators are asked to name a playing card each.

The magician removes all four named cards from the deck and turns them face down, revealing the numbers written on the backs. Together with the spectators he totals the four numbers which equals, for instance, 115. Announcing that he was sure at least one prediction would match, he turns over one of the predictions he made: it says 115!

As an afterthought, he also turns over the first prediction. It shows all four numbers and they all match the numbers chosen by the spectators! A perfect match!

Remember the first cooperation between Henry Evans and Card-Shark? It was the Daredevil Deck, a very diabolical trick deck, praised by professionals, as it crushed the limits of Marked Decks at the time. It is still a great seller for us.

Now, this new effect was not created by Henry Evans but by his friend Arsenio Puro from Spain. Why are Henry and Card-Shark presenting "Beat the Devil"? Because it is as devilish as the Daredevil Deck and uses parts of Henry's and Card-Shark's work! (Sorry for the extended wordplay here, but you will understand all when you will study the video instructions by Henry in English and Spanish language.)

Beat the Devil allows you to openly shuffle the deck, even let the spectator shuffle and handle the deck. Show the spectator that it is impossible to know cards in advance, when you separate random cards from the deck and let him guess the values. He certainly will fail to know the card upfront.

But once you empower him, he will be able to find the cards you name him, in the fairest way possible!

The magician displays four Queens and four Kings and his lucky coin. The spectator shuffles the Queens and the Kings. She selects a King and a Queen, a completely free selection. When she holds the lucky coin the cards match, a marriage and conversely with no lucky coin the cards do not match. These Mental Marriages are uncanny magic.

For the climax, the spectator is given the lucky coin and a choice of two envelopes in which he can win a Million. First he opens the envelope not selected to show that it contains a $20 bill. The lucky envelope is opened in which is a check that states, "A Million Thanks."

Ask the spectator to name the card they have chosen, fan out the now visible deck face up until you discover a card lying face down, which is in fact the card chosen by the spectator!

The magician explains that he is going to show a trick that was performed by a famous one-armed magician. To demonstrate he places his right hand in his pocket. With his left hand he holds up a deck of cards and instructs the spectator to peek at any card he likes.

Without any suspicious moves the magician hands the deck to the spectator and nonchalantly snaps his fingers. The spectator is now asked to go through the deck and find his chosen card. The spectator looks through the deck but the card has vanished! (The deck can even be dealt onto the table, one card at a time, by the spectator... their card is not there!)

The magician slowly removes his right hand from his pocket and shows the selected card! A miracle. The effect can be immediately repeated with a different outcome! Christoph Borer, the inventor of this trick, released this effect in the German speaking countries years before we made this effect popular for the worldwide community.

One single deck, three free choices of numbers and cards that match, with no apparent limitations on the spectators.

The magician shows a deck with handwritten numbers on the back that is randomly shuffled so that the faces and the numbers on the backs are mixed.

He explains a little game he plays by guessing which number a person might pick and he is absolutely sure to get the "35" from the first spectator. As a number is already announced, the spectator is allowed to name any playing card. The card is removed and shown that it indeed has the number 35 written on the back.

The procedure is repeated with a second and third spectator, but this time a playing card is named while the spectators have to choose any number. When these two cards are removed, they again perfectly match!

Be as generous as you can.

The magician starts talking about gifts and cards, perhaps in the contexts of birthdays or even Valentine's Day. He promises to give a present to the female spectator using a very special deck of cards, containing various gift ideas.

Taking out a deck he shows that he has written the names of all kinds of presents, such as a silver pendant, a holiday, a gold watch, a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates (and other such goodies) onto the backs of a well shuffled deck.

The deal: whatever card she names, he promises to give her whatever present or gift is written on the back of her chosen card. He adds, with a smile, that if she is not happy with the present, she can instead give that present to the magician.

Her chosen card is taken out of the deck face up and amidst much excitement, slowly turned over to reveal the words "A Magical Kiss".
